I’m sorry, but this is really bothering me and I’ve finally decided to speak on it. So yeah, I’m not trying to start any shit with anyone but I just feel the need to say this. So I’m seeing a lot of people, not necessarily just on here, that are greatly offended by what we think Louis said. Honestly I commend them for it because a lot of people would just shrug it off even though it’s bothering them just because he’s the Louis Tomlinson of One Direction. And I get why people are offended, I really do man. But I think, and this is just my personal opinion, that it’s getting a little out of hand; yes he might of used a racial slur but that doesn’t make him a racist. The N word is, in my opinion, one of the more complicated ones to judge. Meaning that it’s used by people of all types in different ways. Many people always say that the word should be used by black people only, other than that it would be considered a slur. But the thing is that we can’t set rules for a word, especially in today’s society, because people say what they want- but that doesn’t mean there won’t be any consequences. Because that’s something we can control, the consequences. And I feel like the consequences should be based on the context of the word, not just on the fact that it was used because honestly not even all black people “can” use it without repercussion. In Louis’ case, for example, their was really no connotation. He just carelessly threw it at the end of a sentence. Does that call for consequences? Sure, if you want to scold him for his carelessness do it, you have every right to in my opinion. If you want to leave the fandom over it, do it. If you want to personally send him countless letters calling him out for his carelessness do it man. Do whatever you need to do to get the point across but DON’T DON’T DON’T DON’T DON’T call him a racist. There’s no proof at all to even mildly support that assumption. What he said was racist, but he is not racist. I still love and support them and that won't change, we all make mistakes. I don't care they smoked weed, big deal, he just needs to be a bit more careful with what he says, cause it can offend people. But everyone needs to be careful of certain things they say. But idk man, it's honestly too complicated really, and I guess we can all just drop it.

yeah i don't know what to do honestly. i guess i just care too much about words that offends a race of people that's all. i guess i ought to just jump on the band wagon and forget that the n word was and still is associated with oppression. i don't know i guess am just a serious conscience person like that. but am not against people who aren't as passionate as me about certain words and the implications behind them. a lot of emotions are running through my head right now that i dont know what way to go with this. my heart is saying to forgive Louis and support the band and my head is saying hell no just be done with them, i dont know man.

i AGREE with you 100% Smoking weed is one thing, but when you disrespect people of color especially when they are your fans now that doesnt sit very well with me. And if Louis doesn't apologize because of him not "giving a fuck" well that goes to show what kind of person he is. and i refuse to support anyone with racist attitudes or who says racist things even if it was meant as a joke. so therefore Louis has loss some cool points with me. now its going to be very hard for me to listen to the boys songs or see any interviews of them because of this. Thank you, I'm happy you agree. Weed is the only drug that can't kill you, so honestly if you compare that drug to crack or cocaine, weed is not that bad. I don't care who the person is, if someone decides to be racist, they can go fuck a cow. I understand it is hard to stick with the perfect clean image, but if you want to get away from the clean perfect image, saying racist things isn't exactly a good thing to do. I don't mind that they smoke weed, just the racial slurs need to stop. See, your thoughts are heavily flawed. Weed can actually kill you. It'll take longer than other drugs, but it still harms you especially depending upon how much weed you smoke. There is a study that says you need to smoke 240 joints in order to overdose, but I hope nobody ever sits around and smokes that many joints at once. Furthermore, like I said, it still harms you. You smoke it so you're destroying your lungs. There have been numerous studies that say a single joint is the equivalent to 20 cigarettes in terms of lung damage caused. Weed is also known to raise one's blood pressure and double one's heart rate, which is not good. With that being said, you can suffer from heart attacks if you smoke weed. It also harms your brain. You can lose the function to remember things or learn new things. It also impairs your ability to concentrate, which is never a good thing. It essentially throws off your judgment. It can cause a slew of issues relating to depression and anxiety such as suicidal thoughts and paranoia.

Sorry, I saw statistics that weed is the only drug that can't kill you. I suppose it takes a longer period of time to kill you but it eventually does. Thanks for letting me know xx

You make an interesting point, but all of this is a very gray area. In my opinion it goes beyond him saying "nigger". He also called the cops bitches, which is absolutely horrid. Those cops were there to protect him and his bandmates and he was so out of line, the weed aside. It just shouldn't have ever been said point blank and I'm rather appalled that Liam is the one who has come out apologizing. I understand everyone makes mistakes. It's bound to happen again and again since nobody is perfect, but the fact that Louis said what he said and hasn't put forth the effort to acknowledge his blunder and correct it is what I think is upsetting most of the fans. He's old enough to know right from wrong and I wouldn't say he's racist, but he should be respectful and responsible and own up to his wrong doings and apologize instead of Liam doing so. I know many people who throw around that slur and it's so disgusting and their skin color doesn't even matter.

I just wanted to point it out since so many people have this irrational impression that weed cannot harm them, when in actuality it can be lethal. Plus, it all depends on how much is smoked and how frequently it is smoked.

Yep guys, let's all just forget the tears the boys shed over sick African children. And all the work they did to raise money for them. Not to mention the half a million Zayn, alone, donated. I'm not blinded by their looks or music, I'm just not going take this to the heart. I'm going to stick by them until they give me a reason to do otherwise. good deeds don't outweigh bad ones there is no karma bank when people do things wrong, they have to own up to it it isn't "oh well he gave a new library to this school, let's just gloss over the fact that he said those anti-semitic things that one time" cool, they did charity work. I recognize that, and that's great but I do charity work. I give all I can. Do I give it a second thought? Do I expect some sort of immunity for selfless action? No. Pretty sure my charity work won't save my ass if I ever use the n-word in front of the wrong people. I don't give a shit if he thinks it was a "joke" or just what everyone says or it is in part due to his state of mind at the time, the backlash that he is most definitely seeing on the Internet, papers, other media etc. should be enough to convince him that what he said was unacceptable and I really hoped he'd realize this and at least apologize and take responsibility for what he said idrc about the weed but a racial (racist? I've seen both) slur? It was a shitty thing to say, but apologizing for it would be a start.

^But of course he wont apologize considering the fact that he doesn't care. but its okay am so over Louis and his carelessness^. I am still pissed with him and he probably will continue to be on my shit list from this day forward, but i think i shouldn't be hard on the others considering that they never said the n word. And Kudos to Liam for caring about the fans feelings by acknowledging this disgusting behavior on twitter which i don't think he should've. I understand that people are not perfect nor do i expect them to be, but when they don't apologize for their appalling behavior that is when it becomes an issue for me ,and I have to wonder about their true character behind closed doors.

as shitty a situation as this is for both Zayn and Louis, I think they're both handling it in the best way they possibly could. Whoever leaked this video was obviously looking to upset them and by not responding, I think they are only helping themselves.
Also, while i don't condone drug usage, as a 20 year old woman I can't say that they should be chastised for their behavior. It's best that they gets these sorts of things out now as opposed to 10 years from now when they're both married with kids. Who cares if they were high? As for whether or not this was before a concert is another story. I think if they did this sort of thing after a concert then darn, bad kids. But if it was before a concert then it definitely wasn't a good choice on their behalf. Just my opinion

Weed Is actually not as bad as media/gov says it is. NO ONE has ever died from weed overdose that is fact. yes smoking 240 joints can kill you but it's not The weed that kills you it's the carbon monoxide ( who's really gonna smoke 240 joints in one sitting? It's Impossible) that actually kills you. It's actually a myth weed doesn't cause depression it actually helps with depression. Doctors prescribe weed for people with MS, cancer patients who are going through chemo because it helps with appetite. Also studies have shown that people with epilepsy who smoke weed Have less frequent seizures. The only reason why the gov/media says it's bad is because the medical business is a mulit billion dollar industry and they want people to keep buying prescription drugs. But more more studies are actually showing that weed is actually more helpful than harmful. Granted weed Is not for everybody and if you have mental issues such as schizophrenia or anxiety I do not recommend weed. In terms of Louis and Zayn the only thing I want to say Is that they're both grown and they, re gonna do what they want at the end of the day. It's not up to Louis and zayn to raise the kids it's up to the parents to raise thier own Damn kids.

It's not up to Louis and zayn to raise the kids it's up to the parents to raise thier own Damn kids. Weed is still a drug. It still leads to problems. It can help if administered properly, but most of the time people use it for recreational purposes and that's illegal depending upon where you live of course! You never know…Someone could probably sit and smoke that many joints in one sitting. It's the same thing with alcoholics. They start with one drink and progress to over 15 before they realize what they've done. Weed turns into an addiction for many. I've seen it happen. I never said weed causes depression, but it could based on other studies that have looked at the use of weed in that manner. I said, "It can cause a slew of issues relating to depression and anxiety such as suicidal thoughts and paranoia." Although, if you have any mental illnesses depression can play a bigger factor if you smoke weed. Weed affects everyone differently. A lot goes into how weed affects a single person. It's not the same for everyone. I had a neighbor in my dorm one year at college who was so far gone after one puff. I'm not sure if he was taking anything else, which he probably was, but the weed always made him a million times worse to be around. Then I lived next to a different person another year and him and his roommate would smoke so much weed that the smell and smoke would seep into my room and I'd wind up contact high and it was horrible. You're right and wrong. Louis and Zayn are adults who can very well do whatever they'd like, but they're in a position where young people look up to them. It's been decided that they're role models whether they want to be or not. Parents definitely should parent their children, but children are always influenced by those they idolize whether it's musicians, actors, athletes, etc. so Louis and Zayn should have been more responsible. It's careless behavior to record yourself doing something illegal. Again, I had more anger towards what Louis said over the fact that him and Zayn were smoking some joints. They're not the first young celebrities to smoke weed and get caught and they surely won't be the last.
