yeah, i agree with travis fimmel, i don't really like how they're making it into a movie. because in after, harry isn't exactly made out to be the greatest guy, and once the movie comes out, everyone is going to know that it was originally written about harry. harry is going to be given a really bad player reputation and the tabloids are going to give him a really hard time about. i don't think that he deserves that. the girl who wrote after, i think her name is anna or something, did work very hard on after, but i think if she wants to get something published, then maybe after isn't exactly the best choice. but on the other hand, it does have thousands of fans. but am i the only one who finds it very cliche and similar to many other fanfictions? like, if you're going to turn a fanfiction into a book, at least choose one with a plot more intricate or something. and before they make a movie, i think they should see how the book turns out first. like, it could be a major flop. idk, no hate, i just wanted to express my opinion on after. wow that was a really long rant; i barely ever pop up in discussions like these

i don't think the author is doing this is necessarily for fame. i mean, yes it will get a lot of attention and maybe harry will be seen as this bad guy player but i think she just wants to share her work. writing a book is really effing hard and from what i hear she already wrote like 2 sequels to After, which is something that anyone would be proud of, i think we all know writing isn't a walk in the park. if ever, i think she's proud, everyone loved After, her own work, which was the main reason why they're (possibly) making it into a film. obviously, if there was no solid fan base or dedicated readers it wouldn't be made a movie. i also think she might be doing this for her readers, there are a lot of fans of the story, one direction fans and non one direction fans alike, and they have been asking for a movie or something along those lines. i don't think we should bash her for other people liking her work though i do agree that i have seen the story line used in other fanfics which doesn't really make sense but in fairness, she wrote it a few years ago, before all the dark shiz came out idk. i don't want to start a fight or anything or even offend someone, just sharing my opinion bye oh god im half asleep while writing this and my thoughts are all over the place, oh well

Eh, the problem I have with After is that it's a problematic book/fanfic aimed at kids/teens/young adults. I mean literature is literature, you can write whatever you want, but you have to take responsibility for the message being sent to your target audience when way more than 80% of them probably can't pick out the bad things about the book and understand why it's not okay.
And I'm not saying don't like or read the books. It's okay to like problematic things, I like 50 Shades of Grey, as long as you realize why they're problematic.

It's becoming a norm and for the guys out there it makes them think that its okay to treat girls that way. Yea I read a few chapters of "After" and I couldn't get into it. the characters are one dimensional and tessa annoys me.

the thing about this world isn't the literature, but the people themselves who read. if you read a book about abusive relationships, YOU'RE the one who has to remind yourself that it's just a book, it's just fiction and nothing else. but the writers want to capture young audience, because they are the most influential and the ones who can make their book go viral just by tweeting about it or posting on facebook.
