Hi hello
Okay
So I'm Sarah, and I've been on here quite often as well as the main site. I've written like over 20 stories or soand finished some.
Anyway, I'm not sure for how many people read my fic Lights, Camera, Action, which was like only 7 chapters and unfinished. But I took that down from the site and I'm currently in the lengthy process of finishing it while editing through and changing a LOT, like the characters' names and some concepts, so I can publish it when I finish.
I have always wanted to publish a novel, so I feel like I'm getting closer to achieving that. I've had several people critique over the work to help me improve it as much as I possibly can, and I plan to have as many people look over it as I finish as well. Of course, it's always helpful to have someone else look over your work, right?
Anyway
I plan on self publishing it through this company that is VERY cheap; they pay for editing, they pay for the book cover, and my book would then become an ebook; I can't develop ACTUAL books until I sell a hundred of them, so I really hope to achieve that goal as well when/if it happens. I've always wanted to self publish because I, as the author, have full rights over my work, which is a relief to me. Plus it doesn't take nearly as long as getting published traditionally. I'm not bashing anything, I'm just saying that self publishing is the best route for me to take right now.
However, I'm not going to be posting on the site for a long time, since I'm in uni and working on my studies as well as focusing on my career as an author. Whenever I get time, I will work on my fanfics, but as of now, they're on a standstill because of what's going on right now. I'm just so thrilled and excited to get this novel finished and fixed up for people to read. I would love to send free copies to readers who have stuck with me from the very beginning, so hopefully I'll be able to do that if I sell a hundred copies!
All I can say is people, follow your dreams. Don't listen to people who've wanted to put you down. Prove them wrong. I've had people try to put me and my writing down, but in the end, it's up to you to decide on where you want to go. Do whatever the hell makes you happy, just as writing makes me happy. And also, it never comes without effort. You have to work hard to get to where you want to be, it sure as hell doesn't come for free!
(:
