I don't know I had this question for awhile and I just wanted other opinions..
I understand they're a international pop stars and such but.. I don't know. My concert was the Chula Vista one and the boys seemed absolutely out of it while they were there. There was the occasional joke but other than that they just weren't very energetic! And I'm not saying it's their fault at all. Not at all. But they had just gotten from Vegas the day of the concert, and if you didn't know the Chula Vista concert was suppose to be scheduled for the 6th but then later on it was set for an earlier date, the 4th. I don't suppose it's because of the 2/3 added on LA shows or..
It just seems to me there isn't really a break for them. Niall tweeted about how the bus was quiet because everyone was tired after Chula Vista, and he said that the tour was fun but long..
Just give me your opinion because I honestly don't know how to say anything else without rambling on haha

I think the life of such a famous singer can always be difficult. Hell, even the not-so-known singers work so hard and so long to get up their on the charts, get new fans, etc. One Direction is a HUGE band right now, therefore a lot is being asked of them and the pressure is definitely on. I don't doubt that they're still loving their jobs, but I'm sure it does get tiring at times to just go go go.

Yes. I listened to their live performance of the best song ever at the awards and you could tell their voices were straining. Im a big fan but they sounded pretty bad , no offence! I think they have been worked to hard but theres so many fans and they just want to make the most of it before the craze dies out. But they have got until September off ! Whoooo.

I can only imagine what it'd be like to have the responsibility and conditions they live under for example, the standard not being able to go anywhere without getting mobbed.

Not only that - they're restricted in so many ways. Almost everything they do is broadcast to the world, especially with how privy some of the fans can get into their lives. Almost nothing is a secret for them simply because everyone has their attention on them. I get idolizing them but I think it would get mentally tiring to not be able to enjoy the things someone who isn't famous could. They have to watch how the act in public, who they date (because the fans go apeshit crazy whenever a girl is even mentioned), what they say, etc. It's probably very stressful and that just adds onto the stress of touring and making music, not to mention staying on good terms with the fans/other artists. Yeah, it's a lot and I'm sure it's incredibly difficult to cope with.

Yes! I thought the same until I looked at all the other celebrities. They all go through that.
But, what most fail to realize is that their fame won't last forever, so they have to take advantage and hit most of the world because they're at the prime of their career. It is overwhelming, but its what they signed up for.
I love them a lot, don't get me wrong. We just have to be realistic.

I personally would hate not being able to just go out on the street without being attacked by fans or worrying who im dating.

Definitely the restrictions would get to me a little bit but then again it's the price you have to pay to be where you want to be in the music industry.

No, I mean maybe it seems like that, but in all honesty considering what they do - no - because they could be doing a lot more when it comes to touring.
And touring and long hours and work is something they all knew going into this.
Some bands tour for years and years.
Hell, some bands literally tour almost non-stop.
Take 30STM
I think someone said they've been on tour for like two years or more?
Idk, but most bands out there tour so much it's literally their life.
So, no, I personally wouldn't say they're being overworked per se.
Touring like that is just something that comes with being a singer becuase its THEIR job, and it's certainly more glamerous then working your ass off at least five days a week like the general pop. and getting paid WAY less.
They work just like the rest of us, except they happen to have a one in a million job.
So I don't feel bad or think they're over-worked.
I think if people wanted to make their job easier, they could chill the fuck out and not stir up so much shit over dumb shit like who the boys are dating, because that, I'm sure, is what makes it ten times more stressful.

I really hope they get enough rest though. I mean, September is just like two weeks away.
Life as a famous boyband has its perks though. Pros and cons. But honestly, this is hectic. I didn't expect them to be this big. Like literally, I was just a guy curious to know more about them. And who knew in 2011, I became a Directioner? No regrets though.
I'm getting out of topic, lol. Okay, I think they need more rest than just 'until September'.

The problem with excepting this as an answer is that I keep remembering the boys are only human. People will get tired of their job, even if they love it. While I see this side completely it doesn't mean that just because they are young and lucky to have a job doing what they love AND are in the media that they won't get ultimately sick of it. The Backstreet Boys have publicly admitted that they were exhausted of each other after 5-6 years non-stop of American/European touring, promoting, doing their job. They even managed to tour around the entire world in 100 days. No one still in the industry has done that. But they were tired of it all, this was said on record. They took a two year break and came back with Never Gone, an album that I believe is still their best underachieved effort to date. And they took a risk with the style of singing and genre, which paid off. I think after the stadium tour (my vote was after the movie/fragrance but whateves) our boys need a fucking break. Even if you're young, your body and mind can still age pretty fast, break down from lack of sleep/jet lag (Niall's face on the twitcam anyone? Lou at the tca), constantly being on-the-go and the stress that being in limelight puts on a young group. Maybe if they get out of the spotlight for a long while, take a well-deserved break, enjoy what they've accumulated over the last 3 to almost 4 years, then perhaps certain media outlets will stop caring about who they put their penis into. Being irrelevant might actually do them some good.

I was just thinking that! This is like my own opinion too but I even feel exhausted for trying to keep up with them. Like they are touring again in September I think but after that they have to do promo for the supposed 3rd album. They are doing too much. I literally want them to do a break because there's a reason why they look so tired. To go live on tour buses, hotels and planes must be really exhausting. I want them to not work for like 5 months because even though I feel like they are doing this to make fans happy, they should not be over worked with tv appearances, red carpets, etc.

QUOTE:."There was the occasional joke but other than that they just weren't very energetic!"
Their current media and catalogue is largely based on high-energy, "party" type of culture, which with their frequency of performance are more or less impossible to maintain. What a lot of people do not realise is that it is impossible to be the same always and that you are not the same person you were last week, there is a constant change. As someone stated, they are probably not over-worked as such, however additionally to the private hype they mention, their track catalogue is far limited in terms of emotion. A truly energetic approach is something that a 100+ concert tour in 8 month time span, does not allow.
